Typical values for the Lahaina–Kaanapali coast, rounded from NOAA climate normals. Kihei and Wailea run a degree or two warmer and drier; Hana and the upcountry slopes are cooler and much wetter. Rain on Maui falls where the trade wind meets the mountains, which leaves the west side in a dry rain shadow: Lahaina averages about 13 inches a year, Hana more than 80.
